B.A.D. !!

The Pioneer DDj-S1 Controller.

In 1947 at the Grand records Ball, one James Wilson Vincent Savile decided he would experiment by put two record players together in order to allow a free flow of music to his dance floor.

64 years later and things have changed beyond all recognition. Sir Jimmy probably wouldn't be able to get his head around most modern set ups in clubs these days.

Pioneer have always been at the forefront of the development of Dj technology, and are about to launch the DDJ-S1 controller.

This is a brief look at what it can do ....

Pizza Express Is Changing.

Late last year Pizza Express launched the Living lab at their restaurant in Richmond. It promises to showcase the best of sound and vision, art and science, food and drink.

The restaurant features state of the art acoustic domes which hope to help music and conversation  play a big part in the dining experience there.

The domes are the vision of designer Dominic Robson and professor of acoustics Sergio luzzi.

As well as future thinking design, Pizza Express required some music to reflect their forward thinking without losing the music heritage associated with them.

Here are a couple of artists that feature in the new playlists put together by Nick Luscombe (radio3, late junction) and ourselves.

Stac - 'whoops'

Andreya Triani - 'lost where i belong'

Third Man Records

Jack White continues his fight to keep the vinyl format alive with the re-discovery of rockabilly legend Wanda Jackson.

This is Wanda in her heyday  ...

Here's Jack going through some forthcoming treats on the label ...
