This is the 4th year that Imagesound has supported the Caffe Nero Acoustic Stage at the Cornbury Festival and wow, what a scorcher!
Over three days the stage saw
performances from some of the new artists that Caffe Nero and Imagesound have
helped support during the last year or so.
Artists such as Sherry Davis,
Corey Fox, Jemma Tweedy, Stephen Langstaff, etc. – all of whom are ones to
watch.
The stage also saw some old
friends return, artists that have been featured in Caffe Nero when they were
largely unknown, but have since gone on to bigger things.
Jack Savoretti and Juan Zelada
have both had international success, regularly have new tracks on the Radio 2
playlist and have played the main stage at Cornbury, but both wanted to come
and play in the intimate surroundings of the Caffe Nero tent. The tent was
overflowing for both performances!
Juan Zelada’s performance saw
the whole of the audience on their feet and dancing, despite temperatures in
the tent being well over 30 degrees.
Miss 600 brought a touch of
glamour to the stage, lead singer Hannah looking as gorgeous and cool as ever,
and they also packed the tent out for their performance on Saturday afternoon.
I was surprised that David
Cameron, who was at the festival on Saturday afternoon, didn’t come to the
Caffe Nero Imagesound stage to see them. His loss me thinks!
Sunday morning saw a performance
by one of the youngest performers ever to play at the Cornbury Festival, Lauren
Thalia just 14 years old. She impressed the judges on Britain’s Got Talent, and
she impressed the Cornbury crowd too.
Another young, but really
talented young lady was 17 year old Aimée, who performed a very confident set
with help of a violin player and a really young lad on cajon (a portable
percussion box)
It was an exhausting weekend,
but the joy of seeing all our hard work come together over those three days is
worth it. The effort that goes into finding interesting new artists that
deserve a wider audience is rewarding on a personal level, but is also one of
the things which sets us apart from many of the other companies in our
industry.
The search continues for the
hidden gems that are the music industry’s future, although we might need one
day to recover first!
