Charlie Simpson has been on something of a musical journey since Busted way back in 2000. He left the band in 2004 earning two Brit Awards and selling over 3 million records to form Fightstar.
The move came as Charlie became increasingly discontent with the 'Pop' music Busted were producing leaving to persue his love of Rock music with Alex Westaway. Living somewhat of a double life as he would often rehearse and record music for Fightstar whilst still performing with Busted during 2003.
After 6 years with Fightstar and 4 albums Charlie began writing some acoustic works and shortly after 'Young Pilgrim' was written and produced, Charlie's first solo album. 'Young Pilgrim' charted at Number 6 in the UK album chart with singles 'Down, Down, Down', 'Parachutes' and 'Cemetery' all charting.
The summer of 2013 saw Charlie on the US Vans Warped Tour, which was the first time Charlie had played as a solo artist in the US, shortly after he supported Deaf Havana, a band that had once supported Fightstar on a previous tour and recording began on his latest album 'Long Road Home'.
We caught up with Charlie whilst he was on a whistle stop tour of Nottingham making radio and store appearances in the week of the launch. His new album was announced only yesterday (10/08/2014) to be entering the UK album chart at number 10. He played the third track on the album 'Comets' for us at 'Braderie' vintage store, a big thanks to them, and we'd like to wish Charlie all the best with the new album it's well worth checking out!
