The movie world has reintroduced the story of CBGB, one of the most influential rock clubs of the century...

The Club...
CBGB was founded in December of 1973 by owner Hilly Crystal.  The world renowned club played host to some of the most influential bands of the 70’s and 80’s and early 90’s. CBGB was the starting point for acts such as Blondie, The Cramps, The Voidoids, The Ramones, and The Misfits.
In 2002 another pivotal band of the time ‘The Talking Heads’ were inducted into the hall of fame. During their acceptance speech they invited the founder of CBGB on stage and dedicated their beginnings, and many other acts’ beginnings to Hilly: ‘We want to start where we began by thanking Hilly Crystal, Hilly is the reason that we’re here, that the Ramones are here, that Blondie are here, He kept us alive!’
Clearly without this one special New York club we could be absent of much of today’s music, influenced by the bands to blossom from the catalyst that was CBGB.

The Film...
Directed by Randall Miller; the film CBGB follows the story of Hilly Crystal’s journey (played by Alan Rickman), and his trials and tribulations along the way. His struggle to book country bands lead to an influx of heavier live acts such as Blondie, Talking Heads, The Ramones, and The Police, all of which are expertly brought to life by a great line up of star performers.

The film is due to be screened on the 11th October. See you in the front row!!
