Mars began his set decked out in a gold jacket as he played an excellent drum solo, before playing his smash hits 'Locked Out of Heaven' and 'Treasure'.
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers followed Mars led by the shirtless Anthony Kiedis with Mars singing a refrain from their 1991 track 'Give It Away.
The team-up was followed by a sentimental climax as a series of video dedications from US servicemen and women were aired as Mars crooned 'Just the Way You Are' while a fireworks display exploded across the sky.
