Whilst
we were in Wales early last month we caught up with Andrew McCaffley.
He
established the acoustic folk project ‘Paper Anchor’ back in 2011 and it has
since become a pseudonym for his solo music. ‘Loveless’ is a piece of work
comprised solely of songs written and performed exclusively by Andrew.
Recorded
and released independently in 2013 on itunes and spotify, the EP was well
received by members of the BBC Introducing team in Devon and has been well
established as the first definitive release from the project.
Andrew’s
influences are deeply rooted in British folk music and have been compared to
the ‘rough around the edges’ styling’s of Frank Turner and Damien Rice. Andrew
is currently in his final year of study at Cardiff University and has plans to
focus on music when he graduates with another release in the coming year.
