At the end of January we met up with the 'multi-instrumentalist' and multi-talented Benjamin Yellowitz in Shoreditch as mixing of his new EP is being finalised ready for release in March.

Known for being a self-sufficient singer, songwriter and producer; Benjamin Yellowitz takes acoustic roots to new levels influenced by RnB and Soul infused with his dark ambient production. Since the release of his first demo CD Blue Light Benjamin has performed extensively across the UK and Europe, as well as gaining a strong following online. His reputation has been pushed further by the backing from highly respected acts such as Ben Howard, Fink and Coldplay, who have all posted Yellowitz’ videos online whilst Fink placed his song What I Want on their ‘Best Of The Given’ mix tape.

Although his first demo was only released in 2013, Yellowitz is no stranger to the music world. He was briefly taught by soulful songstress Laura Mvula and toured South Africa. At the age of 17, he was performing as a professional musician which included drumming for Tru-Thoughts singer Lizzy Parks. These younger years led him to support acts such as Ninja-Tune’s Bonobo and Norman Jay, playing on BBC Radio 6 live for Craig Charles, whilst his recording/engineering experience has him working with established musicians such as Brooks Williams, Sophie Jamieson and The Wave Pictures.
If the past is anything to go by, the future for Benjamin Yellowitz is promising. His eclectic style is hard to pigeonhole, but his recordings and live performances are only strengthened by an independent sound that delivers a new approach to the solo act.

Ben played us three tracks two originals and a cover by The Weeknd all of which can be found on our YouTube Channel, this is 'Ash Wednesday' his brand new single...
